Implementation of Balanced Homodyne Detectors with the Common Mode Rejection Ratio Higher Than 50 dB

To measure the quantum noise fluctuations in the continuous variables, we design and implement a balanced homodyne detector (BHD) for cancelling out the classical noises (electronic noise and thermal noise) in the electric circuit, mainly with two almost identical photodiodes and op-amplifiers. To evaluate the performance of our BHD, we measure the quantum efficiency of the photodiode, up to 68%; and the corresponding Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) higher than 52 dB.
