Finding Rules in Disordered Quantum Matter

Disorder can have major effects on quantum matter -- it causes certain physical properties to diverge to infinity near a quantum phase transition, or it destroys criticality of a clean system completely. Exotic ground states, such as quantum spin liquids, may also be induced by disorder. I will discuss some numerical methods for disordered quantum systems and what they can tell us about randomness rules in quantum many-body systems.
